Finding a voice…

There’s a moment, when our creative endeavours gel, and coalesce into something unexpected that actually pleases our artistic sensibilities and doesn’t register as an accident to either live with or expunge.

This is sometimes an instant flash of understanding… and sometimes develops through subsequent pieces to become a thing that is uniquely - our own thing.

The Brightening Ridge on the one hand will be a series of reflections on how I personally came to find my style, and on the other a place to present a developing volume, piece by piece presented in that style.

The roots of my style are many, bound within comics, art nouveau, the secessionists, psychedelic rock poster art, and all stops in between.

The fruits of my style are equally numerous, and bring a satisfaction and peace of mind that seems, to my eyes at least, the very purpose of what art and creativity is - at its most fundamental level.
